A very dark comedy about an Argintinean Serge Gainsbourg wannabe from a filmmaker couple

There is nothing better than a movie that makes people in the audience laugh and shriek in disgust with the same level of conviction. Initials S.G. is one such film. Centered around Sergio Garces, an Argentine man with big dreams and a past in porn who appears as an extra in pretty much every movie made in the country. However, one day Sergio breaks his handsome rugged nose in a bike accident, and that sets off a chain of events that will ultimately lead to Sergio’s national fame: with a twist, of course. Made with heart and humor by an American/Argentine/Lebanese crew with a real-life couple at the center and rendered with Serge Gainsbourg’s songs in Spanish, it’s a wildly entertaining film about male insecurities. And Diego Peretti and Julianne Nicholson in the two lead roles are so good, it’s hard to look away from the two of them.
