A rare opportunity to glance behind the curtains of a rare, poignant drag form, especially important now that drag queens have become mainstream but drag kings still remain in the dark. Some of the kings pictured in the film are dead, some are hard to track down, so to see their performances, and to breathe in the sickly air of the late 90s-00s is priceless. For some reason this film is getting low ratings on review websites, and I am appalled: it’s a true gem.
