U IS FOR UNITED STATES

A film that was considered lost for a very long time and has now been restored. A sweet, sharp and painful story about half-siblings in love. I would really like to see more films made with regional actors, like this one, with important subjects tenderly presented. A midwestern gothic gem that evokes Night of the Hunter mixed with Carson McCullers transplanted to Ohio. And seen through the prism of radical acceptance, an interesting study of the limits society imposes on us, be it in the rustbelt of the 60s, or in the 2010’s sanctuary cities.
