F IS FOR FRANCE and U IS FOR UNITED STATES

Everyone and their grandma know the song. But has anyone seen the film?

It’s the story of a gay garbage man who meets Johnny, a girl, who is shunned because she doesn’t have tits or an ass. What comes out of this superbly unusual love story is funny, sad, nonbinary, ahead of time, and as if Jean-Luc Godard and John Waters had a baby. Messy, as sexuality and gender often are. Also, there is Gerard Depardieu naked from his waist up on a horse in the role of pollutions personified.

I love Gainsbourg and Birkin with all my heart, and this put a fresh spin on the pair.
