B IS FOR BRAZIL
I am convinced that brigadieros are the perfect dessert. Small, full of chocolate and condensed milk,—or just condensed milk if you’re one of those people,—and absolutely delicious. Because condensed milk was a beloved dessert in deficit-ridden Soviet Russia, which you ate with a spoon out of the jar, and chocolate was the most prized thing in the “free” capitalist world, brigadeiros, to me, are the perfect way to quench the longing for something in between. Not your soggy centrist cookie, brigadeiros are revolutionary but never succumb to dictatorial tendencies. And yes, I tend to overanalyze my food, if you’re wondering.
