J IS FOR JAPAN
A five hour immersive experience of being a woman in contemporary Japan.
I watched this over a few weeks, little by little, thinking about it as a sort of TV show. The joy that it gave me, the comfort of sharing the women’s remarkable but so routinely simply lives, were unprecedented. Apart from the tangles of relationships in the women’s lives, it was also such a treat to be able to learn about the everyday life in Japan. And where else could I get this insight into how Japenese divorce courts work? I kind of wish that I could watch something similiar about groups of friends from all over the world.
