Turabay Shomirzaev is a very little known painter from Baisun in Uzbekistan, but for his compatriots he was the city’s Gauguin. He is not even googlable in English, and this is what this instagram is about: to share celebrated and obscure gems from foreign cultures. So I give you this painting, and hope you like it as much as I do. Raised in an orphanage, Turabay Shomirzaev considered humans his most important subject matter, along with their happiness and sorrow. And this painting, which so eloquently reflects the vibrant personalities of veiled woman, is the epitome of this.
