C IS FOR CHILE
A girl named Maria hides from her colony and a roaming wolf inside of an abandoned house, with only two pigs to keep her company. As the line between reality and dreams blurs, Maria sees the pigs as her children, slowly becoming human and, like all humans, evil.
One of the most beautiful, well-crafted and affecting films I’ve seen in a while. Meticulously fleshed out through paintings, sculpture and papier-mâché, it spooked me, filled me with emotion, and made me want to create, which is, honestly, the ultimate goal of works of art. While I understand that the storyline is purely fictional, I couldn’t help but make connections to history and improvise on the theme in my head.
