C IS FOR CHINA
A documentary film about a group of civil servants who have to push women of their village to go through mandatory sterilization so that they can fill a government-imposed quota. I wish there was a little more context to the events unfolding on screen—I got a little confused with “registrations” and “residencies”. But the game of cat and mouse that government workers play with the women in order to fill their quota of sterilizations was a chilling, bizzarre reflection on the inhumanity of bureaucracy.
